19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface after March of the previous year.
Success also means he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, gained dominance to force a third set.
Moutet rescued four early-game opportunities in a tight third set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
